Hi
Can anyone advise on which render farm is best for Houdini and Redshift?
I have been using Gridmarkets but am finding their machine extremly slow and very costly.
An example: My machine, win 10 on a 4090 was taking 8 seconds a frame at the start of a sequence.
The camera pans down onto a building. So no geometry in the start of the sequence. Gridmarkets machines were up to 7 mins and still running, burning credits. I killed the job and rendered over night on my machine.
Be good to know if anyone is having better luck elseware?

We are now in Houdini version 20.
Why is it impossible to get an FBX to import correctly with materials and textures?
It is simple to do in Blender you just import and it done.
Surely buy now there is a method that can do this today?
You wasted hours having to re-texture models with 100's of materials.
Dose anyone have any workarounds for this?
Thanks

Interesting! I have been experiencing a lot of bugs and crashes with Redshift. Thats what promted me to ask the question. It always seems to happen when a bigger brand buys up specialist tech and fail to continue the quality of development.
Karma H20 could be the moment we can shift back to Houdini native rendering.

I'm trying to fracture a model into small cubes.
I have grids copied on points to create the cutting object.
Not sure what is the best way to do this. The results aren't work so well.
See image.
Any suggestions on the best approach would be appreciated?

I have a particle system, I had to extend the scene by 10 frames. Now the particle ends at the old-time length, 10 frames short.
I can't find where I can extend the particle system to cover the extra 10 frames. How can I Get the particles system to add the extra 10 frames?
Thanks

So I can't find a way to get any spring into the sim. Is this because it's really just for cloth and not other material like in a bouncy rubber ball?

I have been trying to get more bounce into a vellum sim. It is very simple, just rubber balls bouncing. The results I'm getting feel dead, not getting much bounce. There doesn't seem to be any physical control where you can edit the bounce like in a rigid body sim. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

If anyone is having this issue, I solved it by going back through 3dsmax and use the old max2AE plugin using alembic or fbx. A bit around the houses but at least its in AE now.

Now the Houdini to AE isn't working, is there a way to get the camera and null objects into after effects?

Hey Cyte,
That was my first thought because it is 29.97fps, so I rendered it out in frames and ran it through Syntheyes again. Same problem.

I have tracked some footage in Syntheyes and exported to Houdini via script.
I get a drift on the trackers in Houdini. Pics to show drift in track circled in red.
I also exported the same track to After Effects and the track is solid, no drift.
Has anyone come across this issue? Or have any idea as to why this might be happening?

If you create a wave tank and leave the water level at 0 it works as expected.
If you raise the water level that water level collapses to the bottom as though gravity was pushing it down.
How do you set the water level without this happening?
Thanks

I have a fractured object creating rocks.
I have scattered them on a surface.
I have tried to centre the piece's pivot to the centre of the fractured piece.
When I scatter the pieces they are offset from the point position I'm copy stamping them to.
Can anyone help explain why this is?
